Hillary Ekwall grew up in West Hartford, CT where from a very early age she loved music classes in school and was always putting on shows for her family. Hillary excelled at competitive diving and gymnastics competing on regional and national levels throughout high school and college.
Hillary was fortunate enough to discover the West Hartford Summer Arts Festival(SAF), a summer theatre program for high school and college students. She first started this program as a theatre novice and would sit backstage while the leads were rehearsing trying to learn everything she possibly could. It was there that she first felt the electrifying energy that comes with performing on stage, igniting in her a passion for theatre. She attended Skidmore College in beautiful Saratoga Springs, NY where she studied music and elementary education. Hillary pursued her classical music studies in both cello and voice performing in classical ensembles. She also had the opportunity to study music in the heart of Vienna, Austria for a semester where she performed in classical workshops and even an opera!
Hillary is also a professional concert cellist and has played in the orchestras with various theatres around CT including Goodspeed’s Norma Terris Theatre, Playhouse on Park, Newington Middle School, and Broad Brook Opera House. Hillary played with the 3 Penny Chorus and Orchestra featured on America's Got Talent at Radio City Music Hall and famous for their arrangement of "Call Me Maybe" as well as the CBS Christmas Special.
Since graduating from college Hillary has been performing professionally at various theatres around the country. She is now living in New York City auditioning, taking classes, seeing shows, and trying to get her name known in the world of music and theatre. She hopes to continue pursuing her dreams of being a performer.
